Last Edit: May 18, 2021, 11:09 by Bolkonskij Bolkonskij I came to Mac from Commodore GEOS, so I actually felt like my first Mac was just a Commodore emulator. Of course RealPC/RealDOS emulated MS' environment on Mac. I am not sure why one would want to run that even when it was new though. CP/M was actually ported by Digital Research to run on Macs. Minix runs on old Macs for those who are interested in a Unix/Linux environment.

Last Edit: May 30, 2021, 16:05 by Bolkonskij wove Just a short list of emulators for System 7 that I found on the Garden: Sure, I could use modern hardware but then it's much more fun to emulate the blocky graphics of an Apple II on my Power Mac 8600 than on a Mac Pro with its insanely high resolution.Īm I the only person feeling it would be cool to have a resource for that? (no, this would probably not be S7T)Īnyone else emulating older 80's hardware on their System 7 Macs?Īny attempts / experience as to how good emulation with various emulators is?ĭoes anyone else know a good resource on that matter? And then there's the compatibility issue - some emulators work with special formats or older ROM dumps that are hard to come by nowadays. The problem really is to find ROMs of software compatible with your retro hardware.įirst, Netscape 4 won't work with those big ROM sites. I haven't been able to actually test it out with software. I've been uploading an Amstrad CPC emulator to the Garden but it has been sitting on my 8600's hard disk for some time now, unused. Something these machines are capable of, it we're talking early 80's - Apple II, Apple //GS, C64 etc. It's actually the other way around: System 7 emulating other platforms. This is not another thread about emulating System 7.

The Stella and Z26 emulators will power the roms that you have been wanting to play again all these years with ease. Having a gaming system at home was the coolest thing since sliced bread or wait was it that the Atari was the coolest thing until sliced bread? Which came first? 🙂 Many people at the time didn’t think the the home gaming console would be that popular but it’s interesting though because around the same general time arcade games were becoming popular. Of course the Atari was very basic and simple compared to what we have today but you’ve got to start somewhere, right? Some people love how simple the Atari system and its games were but unless you played it when you were younger you’d probably think it were a waste of time.

We really feel that the Atari gaming system really paved the road for the trail of video games systems that have come out ever since.
